The visual representation of large archaeological data sets, especially those related to the subsoil and its stratigraphic units, is a very effective solution for supporting archaeologists’ practice. In this paper we present ArchMatrix, a visual analytics tool for Harris Matrices’ management that relies on an excava-tion database and allows the archaeologists to easily perform their analysis tasks by simply adopting a direct manipulation interaction style.
