The nearness of private art galleries to emerging artists and to the most experimental trends makes them the ideal focus of an investigation on the ways in which these centres adapt to the variation of display requirements and reflect changes in the conception of artistic assets. The models that inspired their interiors varied several times in the course of the Twentieth century, up to come, apparently, to a halt on the concept of white cube. A more careful analysis, however, demonstrates that it has been interpreted in many different ways over the years and has been subject to profound criticism and revisions. Private art galleries, have been proving also a capacity of fostering urban changes.

Abstract
The nearness of private art galleries to emerging artists and to the most experimental trends makes them the ideal focus of an investigation on the ways in which these centres adapt to the variation of display requirements and reflect changes in the conception of artistic assets. The models that inspired their interiors varied several times in the course of the Twentieth century, up to come, apparently, to a halt on the concept of white cube. A more careful analysis, however, demonstrates that it has been interpreted in many different ways over the years and has been subject to profound criticism and revisions. Private art galleries, have been proving also a capacity of fostering urban changes.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
