The text is the preface to the volume dedicated to the third edition of the International Summer School OC Open City, entitled: 'Dwelling the wall'. This summer school was held in Piacenza in the month of September 2012, in the Campus Arata, site of the Polo Territoriale di Piacenza, Politecnico di Milano. The importance of the initiative is highlighted in these introductory pages through the presentation of the event OC, that focuses on the centrality of internationalization in the Italian and foreign Schools of Architecture and on the relevance of the theme chosen (dwelling the wall) in the architectural contemporary debate.
