The paper considers the progressive emergence of the cultural concept of urban interior in architecture, focusing especially on the 60s’ theories (L. Kahn, C. Norberg-Schulz, C. De Carli), and on teaching Interior Architecture in Milan in the early 80s, supporting a consciousness for urban furnishing as a problem of conformation and equipment of these spaces. The attention drives also on their material, formal and environmental peculiarity, including: the dimensional scale changes within private interiors, either semi-public and urban, usually quite large in order to accommodate the collective body of the people, real or phantasmal; on the different social and atmospheric conditions of the open urban spaces compared to the covered and enclosed ones. These characteristics affect the annual or seasonal inhabiting and require the use of specific building and finishing materials, influencing also the relationship between architecture and other arts.

Abstract
These characteristics affect the annual or seasonal inhabiting and require the use of specific building and finishing materials, influencing also the relationship between architecture and other arts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
