This work illustrates the experimental forming of a single layer E-glass non-crimp 3D orthogonal woven reinforcement (commercialized under trademark 3WEAVE® by 3Tex Inc.). The study focuses on the shaping process of the 3D fabric on two different double-curved shapes, tetrahedral and double-dome. The shear angle distribution on the reinforcement during such shaping is measured by means of 3D digital image correlation (DIC) analyses. The gathered experimental data are important for the assessment of numerical methods predicting the behaviour of the 3D reinforcement during shaping processes.
