The case studies of some damaged historic towers in Italy are presented. The civic tower of Biella, the bell tower of Arcisate and the tower of Castelleone are characterized by the presence of crack patterns indicating different structural damage. A methodology is put forward for combining laboratory and non-destructive testing methods with monitoring systems in order to reach the goal of evaluating the state of conservation of historic towers and its evolution in time, in view of effective intervention design.
