The role of strengthening interventions on the seismic vulnerability of timber roof structures is investigated here through a detailed analysis of the seismic response for the case of a church that had been damaged in the L’Aquila 2009 earthquake. The roof area had undergone substantial strengthening in a recent past. The response of the original structure and of the reinforced one are evaluated and compared for ground motions derived from the L’Aquila earthquake. Different types of strengthening interventions, less invasive and more compatible with current restoration criteria, are also considered.

Abstract
The role of strengthening interventions on the seismic vulnerability of timber roof structures is investigated here through a detailed analysis of the seismic response for the case of a church that had been damaged in the L’Aquila 2009 earthquake. The roof area had undergone substantial strengthening in a recent past. The response of the original structure and of the reinforced one are evaluated and compared for ground motions derived from the L’Aquila earthquake. Different types of strengthening interventions, less invasive and more compatible with current restoration criteria, are also considered.File in questo prodotto:
