KBLA System_Living Menu

This research investigates a vision for the change and growth of a family according to a concept of a modular and highly standardized system. That system is composed of basic furniture pieces, services and partitions, KBLA standing for Kitchen-Bathroom-Living-storage/Adaptive, that allows an internal organization both on a single level and on a duplex. A floating floor houses cables and pipes and allows the user to set up his\her own layout and to match his\her lifestyle needs with the richness of the menu – an open catalogue of solutions. In order to test the feasibility of such a scheme, a prototyping process was undertaken. In this case we used a metal frame covered with panels of birch plywood for both walls and floors, coated with a transparent water-based film; glass or plastic laminated boards painted in a wide range of colors might also be able to emphasize the open spirit of this construction system.
