Abad Architects Ltd operates in a country with a log art and architectural history like China. When we start a design of a building we make analysis on documents of the city (maps, drawings, books, etc.) and we produce some synthetic boards to explain the results. With this method is possible to identify the main signs and symbols of the city/province and combine them in the new design in a contemporary way. Moreover we study the theory of local historical architect, like Zhang Jinqiu about the traditional Chinese landscape criteria, discovering the relations between ancient architecture and paysage(for example the “Big Wild Goose Pagoda” – Dayanta) and the contemporary deconstructive style. For this reason we really appreciate the use of colours and light in the chinese tradition, in combination with the modern technologies, for example the led lighting. As a landmark of new Xi’an, we believe that Longsheng International office Building should be illuminated during the night time, with the symbolic colours of the chinese tradition. In fact in traditional Chinese art and culture, black, red, blue-green, white and yellow are viewed as standard colours. These colors correspond to the five elements of water, fire, wood, metal and earth, taught in traditional Chinese physics. Throughout the Shang, Tang, Zhou and Qin dynasties, China’s emperors used the Theory of the Five Elements to select colours. Abad Architects Ltd with his work and research studies the applications of colours (natural or artificial by lighting, with all the contemporary technologies offered in the market) on architecture, to better represent the clients in their new buildings.
