Abstract

The project is the addition of a house built originally built in the Sixties, previously restored. The architecture declare its intention of expression for a “precise drawing”, and the measure and the proportion are back as the protagonists of the work. Each detail has been carefully studied and each junction has been designed: the results is not a simple combination of volumes, but a high detailed solution lead to volumes composition. An architecture determined by wall face structure brings this level of detail. Every single element has been designed to be something, not just to appear as something; the structure is not internal and hidden, but becomes external through the wall face internal folding. This solution designs into the wall face an alternation of coplanar surfaces and niches, portals and brackets, with a strong scanning of objects and cavities. We might reassert that the “measure” has been determining for the elements combination and impose itself as a matrix for the executive project: not in the idea, obviously, but in its resolution in a congruent way. The micro scenery created into the lot from the old and new volumes combination and the surrounding garden completely redesigned, its extemporary scenery, intentionally anti-charming, where the contemporary gesture does not search for relationships with the volume cavity below. The innovative element in the technological project is the wall face executed with a combination of “sandwich” panels and fixtures assembled on an aluminum framework. The vertical locks particularity are the Parklex panels, an innovative Spanish material fixed with foldaway spacer nogs. The bicolor face textures are wood-like while the pillars and rakes are in red. This technology makes the wall face independent and self supporting. The resulting architecture presents sharp volumes defined by the aluminum framework colors and by the spacious windows alternated with grates locked by panels.
