A BE method which confers symmetry to key operators is concisely described with reference to quasi-static plasticity. Its formulation is based on the combined use of static and kinematic sources, on Galerkin weighted residual enforcement of displacement and traction integral equations along the boundary and on space discretizations in terms of generalized variables in Prager's sense.

Abstract
