Abstract

The problem of a beam on elastic foundation in the presence of inelastic strains is tackled by a symmetric version of the direct boundary integral equation approach. The generation of the symmetric equation system for the boundary unknowns and of the symmetric and sign-definite matrix operators which transform inelastic strains into self-stresses is described. A numerical test validates the use of "constant" and "linear" internal elements.
