Toward a green University

SUMMARY The University, as a organization of research and higher education, has the important role in developing the technologies, strategies, citizen and leaders required for a more sustainable future. It follows that the University has to become a model of sustainability, as well indicated in the Talloires Declaration. According to this vision, recently also the Politecnico di Milano has promoted a project named Città Studi Campus Sostenibile, together with the Università di Milano. The project is structured in four main themes or areas of interest: energy, environment, accessibility and people, identified to cluster the project proposal. This paper chronicles briefly the history of the sustainability movement and gathers information about sustainability at Politecnico di Milano.
