SUMMARY In this paper we report the final step of a work, focused on the design of mitigation of radon concentrations in some schools located near Milan. The initial phases have already been presented at a recent conference, however, are summarized here to facilitate the reading of this paper. In addition, we now report the final step which includes the analysis of the measurements carried out after the remedial action and the critical evaluation of results. If the expected positive results will be confirmed by measurements, this pilot project could be extended to other school buildings with an excess limit of gas radon.

Abstract

SUMMARY In this paper we report the final step of a work, focused on the design of mitigation of radon concentrations in some schools located near Milan. The initial phases have already been presented at a recent conference, however, are summarized here to facilitate the reading of this paper. In addition, we now report the final step which includes the analysis of the measurements carried out after the remedial action and the critical evaluation of results. If the expected positive results will be confirmed by measurements, this pilot project could be extended to other school buildings with an excess limit of gas radon.
