In the reported experiments, the phase constitution of blends of PVC, alpha -SAN and SAN-grafted butadiene rubber was investigated. The system is regarded as consisting of four polymeric components, i. e. PVC, alpha -SAN, SAN and butadiene rubber (BR) with the rubber particles always dispersed in a glassy matrix made of the other three components. The matrix itself turns out to be single-phase (homogeneous) or two-phase (heterogeneous), depending on the composition; the presence of rubber particles does not alter its phase structure. No appreciable influence of that structural difference on the impact behavior of the two systems is observed.

Abstract
In the reported experiments, the phase constitution of blends of PVC, alpha -SAN and SAN-grafted butadiene rubber was investigated. The system is regarded as consisting of four polymeric components, i. e. PVC, alpha -SAN, SAN and butadiene rubber (BR) with the rubber particles always dispersed in a glassy matrix made of the other three components. The matrix itself turns out to be single-phase (homogeneous) or two-phase (heterogeneous), depending on the composition; the presence of rubber particles does not alter its phase structure. No appreciable influence of that structural difference on the impact behavior of the two systems is observed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
