This paper analyzes the additional load introduced by electric vehicles on the distribution grid. Mission profiles recorded from real vehicles are used to simulate the load of battery charges on the distribution grid. An optimization model is proposed and used to evaluate the effectiveness of variable rate tariffs.

Abstract
