Abstract

The interventions to improve energy efficiency on historical built heritage may lead to conflicts between the need to contain the transformation, according to the principles of minimum intervention, and the purpose to meet the users needs. In order to study feasible and compatible strategies, the heritage site of the company town of Crespi d’Adda has been chosen as a case study. The energy assessment of different sets of requalification strategies, associating intervention on buildings and use of renewable energies, has demonstrated that it is possible to reach a significant reduction of energy also in historical contexts, where preservation of the architectural character is a major requirement.
