Some Considerations about the Modern Role of the Mechanical Historical Heritage

Thedream of any Design Method researcher is a procedure capable of guiding designers to the best solution for each situation, meeting the needs and wants of the end user. On the way toward this utopian situation, several design approaches have been developed and are currently adopted. Many of these methods comprehend a critical analysis of the past design solutions. The key idea of our method consists in transforming the chronological evolutions of constructive solutions into sources of innovative ideas. We will also outline how Engineering Design Education can evolve to include also historical heritage.
