Abstract
Some authors refer to the "forth screen" as the last link of a chain started with the movie screen, the television screen, the personal computer screen and more recently the "mobile" screen. Is there any competition among different screens? Is there anyone of them in danger? Are their services and functionalities overlapped or duplicated? Who is killing who? This paper will explore the future of the fourth screen starting from the birth of web 2.0 and follow ups. Digital convergence is nowadays represented by social networking and mobile devices- What does it implies in social and everyday life? Recently many services evolved to eServices this will turn us into eCitizens? Handheld and mobile devices represent the actual market trend. This contribution will summarize the evolution of handheld devices starting from the early concept of portable music, portable phones and computers reaching iPod iPhone, iPad and Android family. On the software side the evolution from a technological domain ruled by software engineers visiting foreign computers thanks to telnet or exchanging files through FTP evolved in an open club of web masters not necessarily software developers and more recently in a democratic “web” of social networks and applications.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
