The text present a reflection on the young universe of design in Italy. Starting from a discussion on the value and the meaning of design in the current society is described the role of the universitary education on creating a new generation of professionals. The result is that not every creative profession can be brought back to design: even here there is a disposition towards excessive generalisation and a faint use of the word design.
