Mapping the long period ground motion hazard is an important requirement for displacement design applications. Crucial for this purpose are reliable broadband GMPEs. Starting from the attenuation model of Cauzzi and Faccioli (2008), we improved the original database and developed new GMPEs having a nonlinear functional form and Rrup as distance measure. Their applicability to Italy is also checked. The influence of the distance metric on hazard evaluation is then assessed by revising the SH maps at long periods for Italy. Results show that caution should be used in selecting GMPEs for SHA that use fault-type models for seismic sources.
