The volume collects the written and the photographic documentation of the Storie di cose exhibition and few essays from various disciplinary fields which, from different points of view, dwell the issue of “biography of objects”. The two parts fully integrate each other: both parts – the first one through critical and theoretical contributions, the second one through iconographic and narrative contributions – state, show and prove that also material objects, especially the ordinary ones, have lives and, hence, biographies that give them a specific identity through which they deploy an active role within their own social environment.

Abstract

The volume collects the written and the photographic documentation of the Storie di cose exhibition and few essays from various disciplinary fields which, from different points of view, dwell the issue of “biography of objects”. The two parts fully integrate each other: both parts – the first one through critical and theoretical contributions, the second one through iconographic and narrative contributions – state, show and prove that also material objects, especially the ordinary ones, have lives and, hence, biographies that give them a specific identity through which they deploy an active role within their own social environment.
