The present invention regards a polysaccharide or hydrocarbon-carrying material functionalised with a monomer chosen from among glycidyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, N-vinylpyrrolidone, acrylamide and vinyl acetate, impregnated with at least one pharmaceutical active principle. The active principle is preferably an antibiotic drug. Thus, cellulose gauzes derivatized with glycidyl methacrylate with open epoxy ring (glycerol deriv.) and loaded with antibiotic were found to have antibacterial activity level comparable to the gauzes functionalised with glycidyl methacrylate and -cyclodextrin. The polysaccharide and hydrocarbon-carrying material of the present invention therefore constitute a valid alternative to the materials functionalized with cyclodextrin since they have the same antibacterial activity but are more economical and easy to prep. as cyclodextrins are not employed.

Abstract
The polysaccharide and hydrocarbon-carrying material of the present invention therefore constitute a valid alternative to the materials functionalized with cyclodextrin since they have the same antibacterial activity but are more economical and easy to prep. as cyclodextrins are not employed.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
