Abstract

Future Systems, the British study with a futuristic name, founded in 1979 by Jan Kaplicky and Amanda Levete, is characterized by an architectural production that, at the time visionary and experimental, is now more than ever near to some current trends. Result of a multidisciplinary research, open to all fields of investigation, thanks to technology transfer from advanced sectors such as sailing, and the fruitful interaction with the various actors involved in the construction process, from producer to manufacturer to customer, their work addresses on complex shapes investigated not formalist, but rather with an awareness of the instrument techniques and materials as a means and end of knowledge in their work. Production quite varied, ranging from project design, building the vision city, characterized by a pioneering spirit and pragmatic at the same time, with the development of innovations in language and techniques, which certainly makes studying a reference scenario contemporary. In his second test on inspiration "For more inspiration only" (1999), Kaplicky asserted that he would be satisfied if at least one student had taken inspiration from his text: we believe that today he would have considered himself fully gratified.
