This paper proposes a method to increase the degree of automation in remote sensing image registration. The concept is similar to that used in digital photogrammetry, where image registration problems can be solved by means of image matching algorithms. Considering an image sequence, the first of them is georeferenced using the classical approach by measuring on it a sufficient number of ground control points. Then, the other images can be registered pairwise to the first one by extracting in automatic way a set of control points.

Abstract

This paper proposes a method to increase the degree of automation in remote sensing image registration. The concept is similar to that used in digital photogrammetry, where image registration problems can be solved by means of image matching algorithms. Considering an image sequence, the first of them is georeferenced using the classical approach by measuring on it a sufficient number of ground control points. Then, the other images can be registered pairwise to the first one by extracting in automatic way a set of control points.
