An innovative methodology for the mechanical characterization of free-standing thin foils is presented in this paper. The proposed method rests on the combination of inverse analysis with a novel experimental technique based on an equipment, a prototype of which has been built up and is being tested. Both the experimental setup and the inverse analysis technique are briefly illustrated.

Abstract
