The invention concerns a process for purifying alpha,omega-diiodoperfluorinated compds. of formula I(CF2CF2Y)mI, comprising contacting an impure alpha,omega-diiodoperfluorinated compd. with a suitable sequestering agent, with formation of a reversible adduct and sepg. the alpha,omega-diiodoperfluorinated compd. from the adduct itself. The invention also concerns alpha,omega-diiodoperfluorinated compds. of formula I(CF2CF2Y)mI, wherein Y = if present, O, S; and m = 5-10 and having 100% purity grades.
