Memoria e sperimentazione nell’urbanistica milanese

This is an essay on the twentieth century urbanism in Milan which accompanies an exhibition dedicated to the "School of Milan", held in Moscow in June 2008. The special 'identity' of the city and the contribution of professionals over a century are the subject of the study. My contribute focuses especially on the peculiar character of urban's form of Milano and on the way which architects tryed to interpratate it, by urban plans, masterplans and little fragments (single architectures). Memory and experimental approach are strictly linked in some high quality experiences, looking for a sort of dna of the city, even when vanguards and modernism will erupt on the urban scene.
