The paper presents the model of the dynamic behaviour of the flue gas path in a coal-fired plant, including the relative automation and control system. The model was written in the object-oriented Modelica language, and makes extensive use of the ThermoPower library. The simulation activity has provided very useful clues for the engineering, configuration and tuning of the control, therefore reducing the on-site commissioning time. In particular, simulations allowed to spot some potentially critical flaws in the control system during the engineering phase; also, the simulator was used on the field, during the plant start-up, in order to test potentially critical manoeuvres. Some experimental data are reported in this work, to give an overall picture of the performed activity.

Abstract
The paper presents the model of the dynamic behaviour of the flue gas path in a coal-fired plant, including the relative automation and control system. The model was written in the object-oriented Modelica language, and makes extensive use of the ThermoPower library. The simulation activity has provided very useful clues for the engineering, configuration and tuning of the control, therefore reducing the on-site commissioning time. In particular, simulations allowed to spot some potentially critical flaws in the control system during the engineering phase; also, the simulator was used on the field, during the plant start-up, in order to test potentially critical manoeuvres. Some experimental data are reported in this work, to give an overall picture of the performed activity.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
