In an infinite-dimensional Banach space X, we consider Kottman's constant, which measures how big the separation of an infinite subset of the unit ball can be. In this paper, working mainly in reflexive spaces, we provide for Kottman's constant some estimates from below and from above in terms of the modulus of convexity or of the modulus of smoothness of X.
