This research project is aimed at studying visibility and coordination in the fashion apparel supply chain. This topic is considered very relevant in literature, but it hasn’t been exploited in this industry in a complete and structured way. The goals of the research include the study of the need of visibility among partners along the supply chain, the development of a measure of the visibility level and the study of benefits of an improvement in visibility and the costs of the possible tools and instruments that can be used to reach such an improvement. The methodology is based on a deep literature review, on semi- structured case studies and on action research. Some preliminary findings from the first case studies (in the high end segment of the industry) are explained.
