This paper presents results of a comparative experimental study of the tensile-tensile fatigue behavior of composite materials reinforced with non-crimp 3D orthogonal woven and equivalent thickness laminated 2D plain woven E-glass fabrics. The failure-free thresholds and Wöhler (S-N) curves of the two materials are obtained and compared. The damage imparted during tension-tension fatigue tests is investigated by a combination of mechanical testing, acoustic emission registration (AE), progressive cracks observation on transparent samples and full-field surface strain mapping.

Abstract
This paper presents results of a comparative experimental study of the tensile-tensile fatigue behavior of composite materials reinforced with non-crimp 3D orthogonal woven and equivalent thickness laminated 2D plain woven E-glass fabrics. The failure-free thresholds and Wöhler (S-N) curves of the two materials are obtained and compared. The damage imparted during tension-tension fatigue tests is investigated by a combination of mechanical testing, acoustic emission registration (AE), progressive cracks observation on transparent samples and full-field surface strain mapping.File in questo prodotto:
