In this work, linear elastic homogenisation models was developed to investigate the behaviour of FRP reinforced masonries under in plane and out of plane actions. The limits of applicability of homogenisation approaches by reference to discrete models was pointed out. Two homogenisation models has been performed for FRP reinforced masonries: the former is an asymptotic multi-step model, the latter is a numerical single-step 3D homogenisation model. The obtained results show the reliability and the limits of applicability of continuum models that are based on restrictive hypothesis particularly consistent in the case in which mortar is very deformable if compared with the blocks -this case is representative of historical masonries-. The objective of this analysis, under service loads, is to perform a critic analysis in the perspective of a future non-linear analysis development.
