The aim of this communication is to present a novel XPM based method for n2/Aeff measurement, which is really insensitive to the optical beams state of polarization (SOP). The technique is based on a Michelson interferometer with an Ortho Conjugated Mirror (OCM), a device that time reverses the propagation from the point of view of the polarization. The OCM reflects the probe beam in the measure arm, where the Kerr action on the probe CW signal occurs twice. Because of the OCM properties, copropagating and counter propagating probe SOP are orthogonal all over the fiber and for any pump SOP. This leads to a polarization independent interferometric signal. Advantages of the proposed technique are presented. The achieved accuracy is better than 1%. As a comparison results obtained by a normal mirror are also reported. The proposed technique is suggested for an accurate characterization of non linearities of fiber optical transmission lines.
