An adaptive wavelet scheme for the solution of nonlinear problems is presented. First, the original problem is transformed into an equivalent infinite dimensions problem in l2. Then a convergent Newton-type scheme is derived for the infinite dimensions problem. Finally, the iterative scheme is numerically realized by an approximate (possibly adaptive) application of the involved infinite-dimensional operators, within some strategy of dynamically updated accuracy tolerances.
