Abstract

A new, highly promising strategy in drug discovery, consisting in the replacement of the natural peptide or amide function by a xenobiotic trifluoroethylamine is discussed. The trifluoroehtylamino function shows as a very promising peptide- and amide-bond isostere that will likely find extensive application in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
