The paper deals with problems in distributed generation using synchronous machines equipped with squirrel cage for line starting. These machines need suitable control systems necessary to avoid damages during transients occurring when a network fault happens. The main characteristics of the behavior of controlled synchronous machines during synchronizing phenomena are analyzed and compared with those of asynchronous machines. Analytical models of the two generation systems based on the two machines have been carried out and results of numerical simulation are reported.

Abstract
The paper deals with problems in distributed generation using synchronous machines equipped with squirrel cage for line starting. These machines need suitable control systems necessary to avoid damages during transients occurring when a network fault happens. The main characteristics of the behavior of controlled synchronous machines during synchronizing phenomena are analyzed and compared with those of asynchronous machines. Analytical models of the two generation systems based on the two machines have been carried out and results of numerical simulation are reported.File in questo prodotto:
