This paper describes the state of art of the research activities on the magnetic levitation carried out c/o the Electrical Department of “Politecnico di Milano”. Some of the main strategies investigated for levitation control and current regulation are analysed. The comparison between some simulated and experimental results is then shown, with tests performed on a suitably built prototype of levitation platform.
