In this work the capability of global models in reproducing the seismic behaviour of steel moment-resisting frames (MRFs) has been tested by comparison with some experimental tests performed on a two-story one-bay frame. The modelling approach, based on a separate description of beams and panel zones, appears successful in the linear range; in the non linear range the results point out the need for a better calibration of hysteretic relations, to correctly reproduce the strength and stiffness degradation, taking into account the interaction between beam and panel zone.

Abstract
In this work the capability of global models in reproducing the seismic behaviour of steel moment-resisting frames (MRFs) has been tested by comparison with some experimental tests performed on a two-story one-bay frame. The modelling approach, based on a separate description of beams and panel zones, appears successful in the linear range; in the non linear range the results point out the need for a better calibration of hysteretic relations, to correctly reproduce the strength and stiffness degradation, taking into account the interaction between beam and panel zone.File in questo prodotto:
