This article presents a critical review of sensory design within interaction design, emphasizing its inclusive potential in hybrid environments. Challenging the visual–normative bias of interfaces, it argues that sensoriality—a corporeal, relational, situated experience—expands participation and presence by integrating multiple senses and cultural repertoires, particularly with AI and XR mediation. Methodologically, it adopts an interpretative– comparative analysis with explicit criteria, building a conceptual map and a crosswalk between literature and case studies. Findings show convergences (bodily centrality, material agency, cultural inclusion), tensions (technocentric mediation vs. embodied experience), and gaps in impact assessment. The paper concludes that sensory design functions as language, method, and ethical–political practice, and outlines an empirical agenda with action research, sensory labs, and hybrid metrics.

Abstract
The paper concludes that sensory design functions as language, method, and ethical–political practice, and outlines an empirical agenda with action research, sensory labs, and hybrid metrics.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
