This article introduces the concept of «ecology of hospitality» as a theoretical and operational framework that reimagines hospitality spaces as nodes within complex ecological networks, in which human and non-human agents, local communities and visitors, cultural heritage and natural ecosystems are engaged in processes of mutual transformation and care. Drawing on critical design theory – from Maldonado and Papanek to the multinaturalist design proposed by Staid – and on contemporary ecological thought – Capra, Haraway, Tsing, Morton, Latour – the article argues that regenerative design offers a methodological path to transition from extractive models of tourism towards approaches capable of generating shared value for territories and ecosystems. Three conceptual shifts are identified: from object to relation, from performance to system, from impact to interdependence. Design-Oriented Scenarios, nature-based solutions, and community-based hospitality models are examined as tools and outputs to operationalize this framework. The paper situates the ecology of hospitality within broader debates on regenerative tourism and proximity, contending that hospitality spaces can function as civic infrastructures and transformative devices for more just and sustainable forms of dwelling.

Abstract
The paper situates the ecology of hospitality within broader debates on regenerative tourism and proximity, contending that hospitality spaces can function as civic infrastructures and transformative devices for more just and sustainable forms of dwelling.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
