New plans from telecommunication enterprises foresee the demand of wide sub-band allocations in the range of 1-100 GHz during the upcoming World Radio Conferences (WRC23, WRC27, ...), which go beyond the known expansion of spectrum use by 5G and large satellite constellations. Abstract

New plans from telecommunication enterprises foresee the demand of wide sub-band allocations in the range of 1-100 GHz during the upcoming World Radio Conferences (WRC23, WRC27, ...), which go beyond the known expansion of spectrum use by 5G and large satellite constellations. New disturbing signals have been detected and some of them also monitored at VLBI stations. The radio-quiet sky is at risk and so it is VLBI. How can this situation be addressed in the most effectiveway? The current strategy is presented here to motivate activities in the different areas of spectrum administration, technical development and a standardization of the IVS service work.
