Connecting the opens is not just a matter of efficiency or compliance; it is a fundamental step towards a more impactful, equitable, and future-oriented higher education system. Our position draws on a literature review and a range of interviews conducted by SPARC Europe in late 2024 and early 2025 with rectors, vice-rectors/chancellors, and other senior leaders at thirteen higher education institutions in Europe.
