The paper addresses hydroelectric landscapes within the framework of energy transition, inviting architectural design to reinterpret them in an innovative way. Moving beyond their “supernatural” vocation without denying technology, they are reframed as “hybrid landscapes”, where natural resources, infrastructures, and human practices coevolve. Through a research-by-design methodology, grounded in case studies and local experimentation, the study identifies three strategic axes applicable to the Roveto Valley (Abruzzo), within the framework of the Liri River and Landscape Contract. The resulting regeneration scenarios combine renewable energy production, landscape quality, and local development, and are potentially transferable to similar contexts.
