Reading the trajectory of KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture, formerly Sint-Lucas School of Architecture, the article reflects on how academisation has challenged, and clarified, a pedagogical culture grounded in making. Through a dialogue with Thierry Lagrange and Jo Van Den Berghe, it examines how design studios, micro-conditions of proximity, and practice-based knowledge continue to shape the formation of architects. Resistance emerges not as opposition to academia, but as the careful calibration of institutional choices that keep architectural thinking rooted in the critical act of making.
