Cinematic mapping

What will the cinema hall of the future be like? How can it be designed, developed, and built? Can cinema, an ancient art form, creates its own innovative space for contemporary use? These questions may be answered following an investigation, which involves mapping the consistency of use of a place that has seen its importance diminish due to new media, digital platforms, and changing entertainment needs. I therefore propose a reconstruction of that territory of use that lies “between” things, between the private and the public, between the large scale and the small scale, between light and dark. The very act of mapping will redefine new approaches to an old function, which nevertheless persists in festivals, on the streets, and in moments of joy and confrontation. A number of heterogeneous maps will attempt to chart a course, a sideways glance at architecture, before returning to the void, to the hall, to the moment when the lights go out and the images come on.
