The Protein Ontology (PRO) is an online public, open data resource where protein and protein complexes are structured in a hierarchical way. Originally launched in 2008, the Protein Ontology is based on UniProtKB and today contains 232,123 protein terms and 142,990 mapped protein sequence. Here in this chapter, we present this resource and its recent advances and enhancements, which mainly consist of the PRO Linked Open Data, a semantic web service able to associate the PRO protein entities with other semantic entities such as diseases or tissues.

Abstract
The Protein Ontology (PRO) is an online public, open data resource where protein and protein complexes are structured in a hierarchical way. Originally launched in 2008, the Protein Ontology is based on UniProtKB and today contains 232,123 protein terms and 142,990 mapped protein sequence. Here in this chapter, we present this resource and its recent advances and enhancements, which mainly consist of the PRO Linked Open Data, a semantic web service able to associate the PRO protein entities with other semantic entities such as diseases or tissues.File in questo prodotto:
