This paper critically examines the contribution made by Carlos Vainer, Professor Emeritus at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, during one of the seminars held as part of the 2025 edition of the MantovArchitettura Festival. His presentation explored a number of experiences in the city of Rio de Janeiro, where socio-spatial conflicts and the struggles arising from them serve as instruments of emancipation and empowerment for informal settlements.
Il contributo discute criticamente l'intervento di Carlos Vainer (professore emerito della Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) in uno dei seminari dell'edizione 2025 del Festival MantovArchitettura, in cui sono state presentate alcune esperienze nella città di Rio de Janeiro, dove i conflitti socio-spaziali e le relative lotte sono strumenti di riscatto per gli insediamenti informali.
