The urgency in renewing vehicle fleet in use for Local Public Transport is given for turning the transportation system more sustainable than before. Actually, almost the totality of suburban bus lines outside metropolitan areas are served by conventional Diesel buses. The need in a shift of transportation sector also outside the great cities must therefore be pursued to carry benefits also to the population and territory served. This paper outlines an electrification proposal for two existing bus lines connecting Milan to the city of Gallarate. A revised bus route along the Simplon route is presented, with a detailed analysis regarding the performances and emissions of the solution proposed, and a new service timetable and bus charging scheduling at depots is derived.
