Il profumo delle piccole architetture

In the opening pages of his short book 'Wild Fruits, or The Importance of Small Things', Henry D. Thoreau quotes Pliny’s words, 'In minimis Natura praestat' (“Nature excels in the smallest things”), reminding us that the origins of things - and thus the depth of their meaning - often lie in what is smallest: in those minute realities that tend to be overlooked in favour of what our eyes can more readily perceive and our knowledge believes it can master. If architecture can still find in nature a fundamental point of reference for the conception and construction of its forms, then the reflections of the American author can reveal the value of the small in architecture, and of small-scale architecture itself.

Se l’architettura può ancora trovare nella natura un referente decisivo alla concezione e costruzione delle sue forme, allora la riflessione dell’autore americano può rivelarci il valore del piccolo in architettura e delle piccole architetture.
